5 AM in out of bed!
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 · Mike Davis
I’m sitting here with Roy eating a bowl of some type of high fiber, high protein and other good natural stuff. Very good and rates a B+ on my Fooducate app. If you have a smart phone I highly recommend this app as it rates everything you eat and drink and also recommends an alternative. Maybe someday I will give you a review, but not today. Today I’m enjoying the satisfying feeling of 2 great days of working out! Yesterday morning started out with a 45 minute trail run with a client and that was fantastic! Later in the day I got a text from my neighbor asking if I wanted to run 5 miles, so I left work early and ran 5 miles with my very fast neighbor. Despite some tired legs and body, I rolled out of bed this morning just after 5AM and headed to my gym for some strength training. I will round out today with a run with my half marathon group tonight.
Being a running coach presents some challenges that force me to workout at different times and even run multiple times on the same day. Not that any of that is bad, it just means I have to have a schedule and the discipline to follow through. Being tired seems to be the norm, but I rather be tired from working out versus being tired from not working out. Working out can be exhausting as most of us understand all too well, but we all could stop working out and the result would be that we are tired in a much different way. Making it worse is the mental stress we experience when we are not running or working out. Our mind needs our running as much as our muscles do and maybe even more so. Once we experience the benefits both physically and mentally of running we suffer far more when we aren’t doing it.
So challenge yourself each day, seek out a personal running plan or better yet a personal training plan that will get you back on schedule. The results are phenomenal and the benefits will far exceed the tiredness you experience from getting up at five in the morning!
