A Good Run!

Tread mill Wednesday, turned out a bit different than I planned. As I watched a couple mobile homes fly by my office window, I had a message jump up on my office communicator asking if I wanted to run outside. This request was followed by a misguided forecast that the winds would die down to 14 mph’s by the time we would be running. I can deal with that, I thought. Well 3:15 came and I’m pretty sure I saw a Mini Cooper fly by, so I sent a message to my running friend (Justin) letting him know this was not a good idea. Apparently he didn’t get my message and showed up in my office. We discussed the merits of running in this blustery conditions and I think we were both waiting for the other to cave. Didn’t happen, so we changed and headed out for a 6.5 mile run.

Still smarting from my ill health a told Justin that I really needed to take it slow, he didn’t seem to mind that. The run had its moments, but despite the wind, we had a great time talking about anything either of us could come up with. Justin said that I talked so much that he didn’t realize we even turned around! Pretty good strategy on my part. The pace was better than I thought I could handle, but with no Garmin, I didn’t keep track. Ended up being one of my better runs in a while.

I am hopeful that my health is getting better and that my best running days are ahead. Sometimes I get caught up in thinking 26.2 instead of where I’m at right now. Totally against my own preaching. My fears will probably remain until I prove to myself that my body will hold up 15 miles and beyond. Till then I need to stay positive and upbeat. Today was a good day!

See you tomorrow!
