A little of my confidence back!

Been a few days since I posted to this adventure. I wrote some of my struggles yesterday in my weekly running chat, but as I mentioned, I have assessed my training and my setbacks and altered my training plan. Not a big change, but I have a clear plan from where I’m at right now. My health has been somewhat of an enigma as I am still battling a 12 day cold. Nevertheless, I have moved forward and feel pretty positive about my plan. The good thing about coaching myself, is that I can adjust my training simple enough.
Yesterday I ran 12.21 miles and I enjoyed the run a great deal as I ran the first 8 with my wife. Eight was her high for the year and I was so proud of her. After I deposited her back home, I grabbed some gu and gator aid and headed back out for another 4 miles. All went well and my confidence seemed restored! My confidence has certainly been on the low side as I have battled illness, tiredness, weakness and missed runs. So, the run was exactly what I needed.
Today I was to run 6 miles at 9:40 pace and because my long run was yesterday, I was wondering how that would work out? The weather was nice, so shorts were perfect. I managed to keep my pace in the range, partly due to some tired legs and partly discipline. I was running by myself so it was easy to focus entirely myself and my goal pace. I really have to focus on my foot strike as my left foot gets lazy and doesn’t lift particularly high. Whenever (which is not often) I wear my minimalist shoes, I can better understand what my feet are doing. In my Asics it’s a lot more difficult so I have to really exaggerate the lift.
Nothing exceptional to add to the run besides that I stayed around 9:30 overall and that’s pretty good for me. I am supposed to run mile repeats, but because of doing my long run yesterday, I may have to push my run to Wednesday and strength train tomorrow. My mile repeats are supposed to be 7:43 pace, and I’m doubtful that my legs will be up for that. That’s okay; my schedule has flexibility in it.
Snow later this week, so winter is not going to go quietly!
Be well!!
