A new NFLR coach!
Wednesday, March 25, 2015 · Mike Davis
Good morning! According to the time in the lower left hand of my screen it is 4:45am. I am on route to North Carolina for a little vacation. This will be the last break for me before the crazy training group season starts up. I land back in Boston next Tuesday, scoot to Runners Alley for the first night of the 10K training group, then we wind up the No Finish Line Running winter training group April 12 with the “Reds Race For A Better Community” 5 miler, and that following week NFLR starts our Spring/Summer 16 week training group in Dover as well as a “Stone Wall Kitchen” 16 week training. Sounds pretty crazy I know, but that’s what we do and we have a lot of fun doing it. Okay so I am sitting at Logan airport waiting for my boarding and just watched a mouse sprint back and forth in the boarding area. Another reason to stay away from airport food! With the ever increasing coaching commitments we have had to expand our staff insure that we provide personal attention to our multiple training groups as well as our individual clients. I am pleased to welcome Meghan Churchill to our staff. Meghan is an exceptional runner, quite personable and has been a sponge ever since she started training with us. The stars were definitely aligned as by happenstance “Road Runners Club of America” gave me a heads up about coaching certification course coming to Portland Maine in July and thankfully Meg agreed to go. In fact Lew will be going along to take the course as well which will give us 5 RRCA certified running coaches at NFLR. By far the largest single group of certified running coaches around the seacoast and possibly across the country. While I am pleased that NFLR will have such a great number of officially certified coaches that is only a portion of what it takes to be a coach at NFLR. We work continuously understand the technical aspects of running, training and building successful training plans. Along with the educational piece we also strive to provide a fun and personal approach that insures the best possible results and experience for our runners. Thankfully Meghan has all the qualities that make her a great fit. The plan is for Meg and my daughter Jennifer to infuse NFLR with their youthfulness love for running. You may not have noticed myself and Lew are a bit OLD and while my wife Kathy is younger than I it will be great to have some younger coaches on staff. I guess I should wrap this up before they start boarding us. Hope you have a great day and see you on Friday! God Bless! Mike
