Afternoon coffee and Intervals
Friday, July 11, 2014 · Mike Davis
Good day! Because I wanted to get my stretching and strength training in this morning, I was unable to do my normal morning chat. Don't have a lot of time so these intervals will be quick! Great weather here in the Dover, Portsmouth and most of the New Hampshire area, so take advantage of it and get out and run! The New Hampshire weather along with the humidity levels should make for my more pleasurable running for sure. Intermediate 10K training begins Monday evening at Runners Alley Portsmouth to be led by Mike and Kathy Davis, of course that would be yours truly and his beautiful bride. Will be a fun training group with lots of track workouts and an opportunity to improve your 10K PR. Contact myeself or Runners Alley if you have any questions. Good news on my calf injury, all has been well this week as I moved from the treadmill to outdoors. Thanks to some strategic terrain selection, I have limited hills early in my runs and was able to get my muscle loose before stretching them on any inclines. Not easy runs due to the heat and humidity, but I enjoyed every step! They are putting in a 1.5 mile biking, walking and running trail on the Pease Tradeport and continuing into Greenland. This is a great option for those that enjoy running on the Pease and while it may not be the perfect running route I think it is great that the Pease Development people realize the importance of providing recreational paths. If you haven't run out on Arboretum road to the wildlife refuge lately, you definitely should. They have lengthened the hill and it looks like it will be an awesome place to run. One of my favorite places to run when I am running from work. I was talking with a New Castle resident last night and he mentioned how we runners frustrate the locals because we often don't run single file. Single file is actually an ordinance and beyond being respectful to the locals, it is much safer to run single file. Well time to move along. Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend! Mike
