Apple Harvest Day 5K 2017 & NFLR

Good morning!

Yesterday, the NFLR team displayed our talent and passion for the local community of runners, as for the second consecutive year, we managed and directed the Apple Harvest Day 5K. This wonderful fall race kicks off the Apple Harvest Day festival and has become a favorite for many in the Dover New Hampshire community and beyond. With over 800 registered runners, this perfect a New England race, shows a staying power, while other races are diminishing in numbers. The relationship between AHD and NFLR continues to thrive because both care deeply for the local community and both seek to show the best Dover has to offer.

The race was great as Christopher Dunn, from Kennebunk Maine won with a great time of 16:28, and Corey Dowe of Barrington finished at 18:02, to take home top honors for females. While these two both deserve a large applause for their great races, I think that young (12 years old) Aidan Cox of Northwood many have received the loudest cheers as he crossed only 15 seconds behind the Dunn. I have been around a lot of races, and had some great young runners in groups I have worked with, but this may have been the best finish I have ever witnessed for a young runner. Apparently, Aidan is coached by his dad Tim, who also ran the race and trailed his son by nearly 2 minutes. Tim coaches the cross-country team at Coe-Brown Academy and no doubt, he is excited to have his son excelling toward anchoring future CBA teams. Pretty cool story and one that I am sure will get a lot of exposure in the years to come!

As the leader of NFLR, I could not be more pleased with our partnership with AHD and as I said, because AHD and NFLR value the running community of Dover, it is a natural fit to work together. My team of certified coaches have been leading training groups around Dover for a few years now, and between our knowledgeable coaches and our desire to keep running “fun,” we appeal to a great many runners in the community. This opportunity allows us to not only introduce NFLR to the community, but to also give back to our community. I am so grateful for the NFLR team and their passion for helping runners, run the “right” way as well as their desire to give to the community. Way to go team NFLR!

Have a great week and enjoy the wonderful running weather!

God Bless!

Michael
