Back from a tough week

Hi Everyone! I have been offline for the past 6 days as I have been dealing with an unexpected death in our family. Very sad but I am blessed with a great family that helped me to get through a very tough week. The loss will not vanish, but God good and life must go on. The Seacoast half marathon training is in full gear as we now move into week 3 of the training. The group seems like a more veteran group of runners with a solid running background. Many haven't run a half marathon but they have come into the training with at least a 10K on top of multiple 5Ks so that helps as we train them for 13.1 miles. This past week we had a guy join the group that had done the same training with me 2 years ago but one week out from the race he got a stress fracture. Since that time he has not run a single race, but is back running and no doubt has finishing on his mind. Good to see him back and this time the results will be different. The past week brought me another individual runner to work with and I'm excited about that! This particular runner is training for a third marathon and desires to improve her finish time as well as her race finish. In her previous marathons she definitely showed great ability but just not good use of her fuel and that resulted in a backwards race. Meaning strong start, okay middle and terrible finish. Her current training plan is one that is popular and has served her okay so I won't completely change what she's doing but I will make some changes that are more specific to her goals. Should be lots of fun! Today is NFLR Newsletter day and I am thankful that my partner (and daughter) has continuously improved upon this Newsletter. We are still seeking any questions for the "ask the coach" section so get those questions in and don't limit yourself, make them fun, challenging or just educational. This is the 4th addition of NFLR Newsletter so go subscribe now! This week I am going to run a feature that will look at the mechanics of running so be sure to check back to follow the series of pieces I write on "How do you run?" The weather is beautiful here in New Hampshire so running should be perfect. I need running this week more than ever so I am grateful that my schedule will get back to some normalcy. Running is my go to therapy when I am struggling so bring on the road! Have a great Sunday! Thanks for enjoying your Sunday morning cup of coffee with me!
