Back in the Granite State and Ready to help "New Heights"

Good morning! Haven’t chatted with y’all since last Wednesday because of traveling from DC to New Hampshire on Friday. Been quite a whirlwind and DC suddenly feels like it was months ago! Friday I left out of DC at 12:30am and pulled into the Penny University Café at 8:30am. Great drive despite not a drop of coffee. As much as I love sipping on coffee while driving I really wanted to make good time and no coffee meant not as many bathroom stops. Not a great tradeoff but, I really wanted to stay ahead of rush hour at some of the various hotspots along the route. I was successful and as I said, I went directly to Penny U. and got my coffee. That was the best cup of coffee I have had in some time! Back in New Hampshire for the weekend before flying to El Salvador tomorrow for a short 5 day trip, then back to New Hampshire for a day and then off to Kansas next Sunday for 4 days and finally returning back to the Granite state for a couple months. It will be great to settle back in for a while but, I will be busy preparing for my retirement as well as working with the NFLR-NH staff. Yesterday it was awesome to be back running with the NFLR Winter Running group and I thought I got lucky that the weather would be nice enough for light clothing. Not quite as nice as I thought with the wind chill and while I wore fall type running clothes it took me a while to get comfortable. My hands were quite cold for some time! Nevertheless it was wonderful to be out running with friends and enjoying catching up with everyone. This year No Finish Line Running will be sponsoring the “St. Paddies April Fools” 5 miler on April 3rd. This race is in its 7th year and is a 100 percent charity race that raises money for “New Heights” organization. This is the mission statement off of the “New Heights” website: Our mission is to unleash the individual and collective potential of today’s youth by offering experiential learning opportunities through: - Exploration of their culture, community and natural environment; - Expression of their unique talents, ideas, and creativity; - Engagement in science, technology, arts and outdoor learning. There is no doubt in my mind that our world needs organizations like “New Heights” as it invest in the future of our youth. Being able to support this event is a great honor NFLR and our goal is to play an even greater role in the future. I am scheduled to work at the base that day and then have my retirement ceremony that afternoon however; I will make it work to be able to run the race alongside many other NFLR runners. If you want a great NFLR shirt to wear, we are offering anyone that signs up for this race an NFLR custom shirt. Email us at info@nofinishlinerunning.com and we will arrange for you to get your custom shirt! The caveat is that you have to wear it during the race. Great running shirt and a great event so sign up and email us! Need some encouragement with your running? Join NFLR Wednesday nights at 6:30 from the “7th Settlement Brewery” for an easy 50 minute run or Saturday morning at 8:30 from the Center for a fun run along the Piscataqua. No cost, just come run with us! Time to get ready for church! Have a super day and a wonderful week! Definitely hope to see you soon! God Bless! Mike
