BIG, BIG NEWS!

Good afternoon and Happy New Year! Sorry about being kind of quiet over the holidays but I have been quite busy and not exactly because I was celebrating. I would like to take a moment to look back a few years and then talk about 2015. About 4 years ago we were still in the early years of No Finish Line Running and we spent lots of time developing our business model or maybe better put; trying to figure out what our business model was? I started out as a guy that just wanted to help runners and that turned to a more structured business as a running coach, but as NFLR progressed it became apparent that there was opportunity for far more. My daughter Jennifer came on and helped with the website and for a while even wrote a newsletter. All the while we talked about what we wanted to do with NFLR short term as well as long term and because Jennifer and I are of the same genes we had similar beliefs of what we could do long term. Such ideas as opening a running center that provided multiple resources such as: coaching, online coaching, running groups, running form analysis, Pilates, strength training, physical therapy, water running and some other progressive resources. Since that time we have realized some of those ideas and NFLR has evolved into a great resource for runners of all levels. This past year alone we trained a group from Stone Wall Kitchen jus over the border in Maine and we started a winter training group to help those that wanted to keep the momentum from the fall. In November of 2014 NFLR took another step toward our long term blueprint and signed a lease agreement to rent a nearly 900 sf facility that would be home to the first running resource center in New Hampshire, Maine and northern Massachusetts. When the opportunity presented itself my first inclination was to pray and it appeared that God not only wanted this to happen, but he also made it very clear! With that belief and the encouragement of all those involved at NFLR I signed the lease and began developing a resource center! Amazingly (or maybe divine intervention) I had recently worked with one of the best endurance strength and condition trainers in the area in Jasmine Lapir and the timeliness of this relationship could not have been better as I strongly felt that he would be a great fit for the resource center. After some conversation we both felt we would be a natural fit based on his work with runners and endurance athletes so it was agreed upon that he would operate out of the “No Finish Line Running Coaching & Endurance Resource Center”. Jasmine is an amazing trainer that will provide strength and conditioning specificity to runners as well as endurance athletes. This results of this partnership will be fantastic for every person that comes in to the center. Another goal of ours for some time has been to add Pilates to NFLR and this has been a very difficult task. A good friend of mine has been working to become a Pilates’ instructor but his location and current status will not allow for him to join the center. However like everything else that has happened with this endeavor by sheer luck I stumbled upon Erica Rice who is a former neighbor and who also happens to be a trained Pilates’ instructor! After one meeting we both were excited by the idea of teaming up to bring “Pilates for Runners” to the Center and an agreement was quickly struck! Erica is awesome and is also a runner herself. Pilates has helped her running a great deal and we believe her classes will benefit all runners and endurance athletes equally. You may have noticed that I referred to the center as the “No Finish Line Running Coaching & Endurance Resource Center”. While that may seem like a mouthful, we felt it best represents what all we will offer under one roof. While my NFLR staff will focus on all running aspects, we will have others that will help runners and other endurance athletes as well. The running side of the house will never stray from developing the best training methods for runners but having strength and conditioning as well as Pilates right there will also provide great resources for our runners. The great thing for me as the head of this Center is that we can use our collective skills together to further develop resources for athletes. This will be great for the Seacoast, New Hampshire, Maine and northern Massachusetts and lots of fun for us! The open house will be January 17th from 10 to 4:00. The location is 40G Dover Point road, Dover New Hampshire. Check out www.nofinishlinerunning.com for more details. I hope you can come on by and check out all we have to offer! So there you have my 2015 plans and goals. We will most definitely not stop there so keep coming back to see what is up next! Have a great week! Mike
