Close to official!
Last night I finished a 100 question test that was my final hurdle in getting certified as a running coach by Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). The test took me good parts of three days to complete, but I completed it and got the required passing score!
As I talked about on Sunday, this course will benefit all those that I work with in the future, both the beginner runners and the more experienced. Putting together training for all levels to include 5K training, 10K training, half marathon training and of course marathon training will be that much easier for me. My experience in the past has been all practical with mostly self-study and now I have added valuable classroom time that broke down all aspects of running from the physiology to the physiological side of it. I have a better understanding when I someone desires to complete their first 5K race or want to make the jump to marathon training. Understanding training pace for 10K training is now quite a bit more technical than before.
As I move forward I am excited about the wonderful possibilities of working with new runners getting them through 5K training or 10K training, as well as those that want help conquering half marathon training or marathon training. Having now worked with runners at each of those distances, I have gained valuable experience and RRCA certification only helps me to serve the runners even better. If you search for certified running coaches in the state of NH, you will find two and by weeks end a third (my wife will be next), as there are not many certified running coaches around. So if you want some help to cross 5K finish line or want to attempt your first half marathon, I’m certainly ready to help make it possible! RRCA certified!
