Coffee and Chat Sunday

Good morning! What a glorious Sunday we have in front of us! Blue skies abound yesterday and today looks to be similar. Yesterdays No Finish Line Running training group run was so awesome! I walk ran 30 minutes and along with my group I finished with a 16 minute run totaling 51 minutes and 5 miles! My knee is improving steadily and I even picked up some further advice yesterday that will hopefully improve the healing process. We had a nice couple of days at the Center, starting Friday night with a consultation with a past Runners Alley group member who is reaching out to us for help getting to her first 26.2. It is always fun to help people realize amazing goals and this most definitely will be a lot of fun for us and her! Next up we had our Saturday morning training group and I can’t tell you how much fun this training group is and how great it is to watch the progress. The funny thing is; I am kind of with them in their development as I am trying to recover and it is much like starting over for me. So it has been the perfect circumstances for me and lots of fun! After the training group I ran into Carrie Jose a new physical therapist to the area who is making her rounds and getting to know various fitness based businesses. She had just been next door speaking with the good people at Integrated Fitness and her intent was to stop into the NFLR Center and see what all we had going on. When I showed her our running form analysis, online training and other aspects of the Center she was crazy enthusiastic for how we might be able to work together! I am always looking for ways we can incorporate other resources and a PT that could help with our gait analysis program has always been a goal of mine. Finding the right PT that will work with us in a way that we can focus on the mechanics of the running gait for form while a PT can offer assistance with physical problems is the perfect match. We will explore the partnership and see if it will work for all to include the running community. Finally we had another consultation thanks to a referral from a past client who suggested if this woman wanted to speak with professionals to come see NFLR. Talk about the highest compliment a business like us can get, when people recommend us with such high praise, it really means a lot to us! The consultation was a lot of fun and while it is always nice to add another client, in this case we were able to help the young woman find a good fit for her and her husband’s strength training (Jasmin) and determine the best for her at this point would be a running form analysis. No doubt we are always looking to increase the number of our individual clients but we never ever try to sell our services on anyone. Instead we talk to people and find out what their needs and wants are and then we determine how we can help. Our services are numerous so we always have something we can do to help in most cases but we most definitely don’t try to sell ourselves. This week I am traveling to Wichita Kansas for a few days so I will miss a couple of training groups but if all goes according to plan I will be back Thursday night for my final Runners Alley training group run. Yes indeed, next Saturday’s Market Square 10K will be my final Runners Alley training group. Definitely bittersweet for me as I have been blessed to have worked with great people at Runners Alley and many new runners. On the other hand I will gain some important time back that allows me to focus on NFLR and the continued growth. Runners Alley is wear it all started for me so I will always feel a bond with them and they also continue to be a great partner with NFLR and that won’t change. I will most definitely be around guest speaking on occasion and possibly filling in when needed. As far as the Runners Alley training groups I feel like I have left my mark as now most of the training groups use the training system I created and I am proud of that success. Don’t forget that “Pilates in the Park” on Thursday night at 5:30. What better way to improve your strength, stability and core while being outside! Henry Law Park is a great place to be on a nice evening and if it rains head on over to the NFLR Coaching & Endurance Resource Center for an indoor class. I know I sound like a broken record but I believe so much in Pilates that I will refund your money if you feel like it wasn’t worth it. Next week I will be there and hope to see you as well! Time for me to get moving, so have a great week and come on by the Center and visit us on Friday night! God Bless! Mike
