Coffee and Chat with the Coach

Good morning, Kathy and I are on route from North Carolina and are almost half way home (north of Baltimore). The past weekend was a busy one for NFLR, Saturday our Stonewall Kitchen group ran a the Tiger Trot 5K in North Hampton, while our winter running group had their first Saturday morning run from "Juicy Roots". The Stonewall Kitchen group was lots of fun and my partner Lew Ricker did a great job with helping each of the runners improve each week and culminated with a great 5K for all of them. This group has been a great opportunity for NFLR as we develop our ties with local Seacoast businesses. Stonewall Kitchen is a wonderful company that really cares about their employees and this training group was a great example of that. All of the runners that took part in this group are eager for us to come back in the spring and lead another training group, so hopefully that will work out. Thankfully Lew has continued to develop as a great resource and between his ever increasing experience and forthcoming certification, he will be a great asset at NFLR. Nice job Lew! Saturday at 8:30am, we had our second meeting of our "No Finish Line Running Winter Running Group" and like Tuesday night it was on the cold side, but it went great! Because I was in North Carolina, I wasn't personally there, but NFLR's favorite daughter reported that "Juicy Roots" was a great host, providing a great meeting place, discounted recovery drinks and an enthusiastic staff! I am thrilled with how our first week has gone and look forward to running with this group. Since this will be a winter, we are hoping to see people join in as we go along, so don't stay away even if you wait. It really is a lot of fun to run with a group through the winter no matter the conditions. Sometimes the worse the conditions the more fun we have. Hope to see some of you Tuesday night at the "7th Settlement Brewery" at 6:00! Time to get on the road! Have a great day! Mike
