End of week chat

Tonight completed week 1 of the 10K training group and already I am thrilled with the group! Many familiar faces and some eager new ones! One of the great benefits that I get from coaching as long as I have is that I meet so many great people and when I am lucky enough to cross paths again with them, I am ecstatic. On my way to the training group tonight I ran into Liz who I have worked with in the past and man was it great to see her! She and I had so much fun working together and now that she has moved on to other challenges I don’t run into her enough. People that fear joining training groups really miss out on some great benefits that far exceed the financial investment. With March winding down I am busy preparing April training schedules and for some of my clients that means their goal race is near. First up will be Ashley who is running Boston and she has battled through some sickness lately but hopefully that’s behind her as she heads down the stretch of her training. The weather we have been experiencing certainly hasn’t helped with some of her training, but she has pushed along and I think she will be ready when she hits the start line. Her personal goal is significant and my job has been to reel her in some and prepare her physically and mentally. I am confident that she is stronger both physically as well as mentally so now it’s time to leave the results to fate. Personally this weekend I want to move from 8 to 9 miles for my long run. While that’s not a large jump, there have been some Saturdays that would have seemed impossible. My running has been somewhat of a labor but I continue to enjoy the process of building up my aerobic capacity. Because I am doing an equal amount of strength training, I don’t get bothered by not being on top of my running. Right now I have different goals and feel pretty good about my direction. With no race on my calendar for quite a while I have the luxury of training without any real stresses. I have some ideas for NFLR and the website that I have to find some time to work on them. The running business continues to thrive and I continue to get busier. Not a bad thing, but has its challenges. In the not so distant future you will see some changes to the website as well as some opportunities. Keep checking out the site! Be well!
