Enjoying the Season with Some "Fitmas"

Good morning

Here we are seven days into December and it feels like we should be further. The week has been nonstop for me between my work at the YMCA’s and remodeling No Finish Line Running into No Finish Line Fitness.

Wednesday evening, I made my return to group training, as I joined in with our Winter Pacers Group for a 50-minute run. We chose to run a route through Dover familiar to me from our previous days of living on Taylor road and it certainly brought back wonderful memories. While the temperature was low, the run was awesome! Before we even started, I introduced myself to one of the newest members of the group (Susan) and she replied that she knew who I was, as she has been following our NFLF Twelve Days of Fitmas on Facebook. This recognition certainly tickled me, as I was unsure anyone was paying attention. (I will get back to our Twelve Days of Fitmas, in a moment.) Anyhow, I was a bit nervous about the group run, as it would be my first run with a group and I had some apprehension over my ability to hang in with them. Thankfully Susan was a great help, as she and I chatted the nearly whole time and all went well. I was certainly gassed at the end, however because we finished by running down Washington St. I was able to hang in. Wonderful group to run through the winter with, and I highly recommend you come join us! Free and fun!

Back to the brainstorm of NFLF’s Jennifer Miller (certified RRCA coach and soon to be a certified ACE personal trainer). Jennifer is a bit far away to physically join in our NFLF runs, however she is an intricate part of our leadership team and is quite creative. She came up with a great concept for Facebook that would encourage our followers to engage in fitness during the busy holiday season. The Twelve Days of Fitmas began on December 1st with squats and will continue each day adding an additional exercise. A not so brilliant idea she had, was to have yours truly make a video each day for the each exercise of the day. If you check it out, you will quickly realize that some people should stay behind the camera! Nevertheless, the Twelve Days of Fitmas has been getting over 350 views, so hopefully despite poor acting and production, people are getting some daily exercise in between Christmas shopping and other activities. Check it out and join in! https://www.facebook.com/nofinishlinerun/?ref=bookmarks0. Certainly, feel free to critique me, or tell us which hat you like?

I hope you are enjoying the Christmas season and taken the time to enjoy the blessings of your loved ones. I absolutely love this time of year, from the Christmas music, to the lights and most specially the “reason for the season.” Slow things down, do a couple exercises, maybe run a few miles and most importantly celebrate the birth of our Savior with your family and friends!

Have a great finish to your Friday and even better weekend! See you Sunday!

God Bless

Mike
