Exciting Challenge And All Welcome!

Good morning

Over four years ago I retired from the military and, I told myself I was content on being who I was and change or improvement was no longer needed at that stage of my life. Quite a dumb belief.

Since that misguided period of my life, I have gone back to school, sought out additional certifications, challenged my faith and refused to accept life as seen through my lenses only. While I have plenty of growth and improvement left, I am pleased for the baby-steps I have taken.

Six weeks ago, my daughter Jennifer text me and telling me to watch Game Changers on Netflix. No explanation or details, just a simple text saying: “Watch Game Changers on Netflix.” It was kind of late and I was tired, but I turned it on.

I quickly realized “Game Changers” was not for entertainment, but to provoke my mind!

I have always been primarily a meat eater and some vegetables (but not a lot). Game Changers is a documentary on plant based diet (PBD) versus animal based (to include fish). As ready for sleep as I was, the program grabbed my attention. Between the science and real individual examples, I was intrigued with the possibilities. For those who know me well, they would tell you I am surely the anti-PBD and making that kind of change would not be possible. I would concur. The next day I thought about it and this one thought stuck with me: “Would I switch to PBD if it improved my health and quality of life?” That morning my daughter Jennifer and I discussed it, and both agreed that it would be tough to give up some of those animal based foods we enjoy. However, we discussed how we might be able to try a change to PB in some form.

Not having a goal to convince any clients to change, I decided to encourage all of them to at least watch Game Changers. Not surprisingly one of them had already watched and were 2 months into PBD. Her reasons were unique in that she particularly was looking for some physical relief during her periods. Apparently after watching Game Changers she read more on PB and found that the change was helpful in reducing the intensity of periods. Her results have been extremely positive.

Jen and I continued our dialog and we decided to give a PBD a try! We agreed that a 30 day challenge would be doable if we did it before November (Thanksgiving). Well, it is officially a No Finish Line Fitness team challenge. September 7th we will begin a 30 day plan-based diet challenge. We already have 7 of our clients excited to take on the challenge. We also want to invite anyone else to join us for this free challenge. Jen has set up a private Facebook page to share information, recipes and support each other. We will start with some basic measurable exercises that will baseline capability to start and see if there is any improvement as we progress. (The documentary highlights some pretty amazing capability improvements). We are also looking at giving every participant a prize just for trying. Much more to come.

Personally, while I am pleased with my exercise fitness currently, I feel like I can be doing more to help myself with both my health and fitness. This challenge is exactly what I need right now. I have my doubts about my long term capability to stay with it, but I am willing to give it 30 days and let my body tell me if some form of it is worth it. It will not be easy for me on many levels, but for 30 days I’m game.

I would encourage you to check out this link and watch Game Changers : https://gamechangersmovie.com/

Till September I will be emptying out my freezer!

Have a great Sunday and an even better week!

God Bless
