Friday Coffee and Chat

Good morning! With 6 shopping days till Christmas, I hope everyone is nearly done as yours truly! With my schedule I have been kind of forced to speed up my shopping as opposed to waiting to December 24th when I typically do my best work! Thankfully most of my gift buying is for runners so it kind of makes it easier. If you are looking for a great gift for someone in your life, No Finish Line Running can provide you a gift card for however much you want. Between coaching services, gait analysis, Pilates and other resources, a gift certificate would be the perfect gift. Email me or call and we can get it in the mail. Being a New Hampshire running coach and having a running resource center is such a great opportunity to meet many great people. Yesterday I had a consultation with a woman that had Googled New Hampshire running coaches and the second listing on page one was Mike Davis and No Finish Line Running! It is so cool that No Finish Line Running has become New Hampshire’s, southern Maine and even northern Massachusetts number one running resource for running coaches and other resources. Watching our programs grow and helping all levels of runners become stronger and confident has been really exciting. Our latest addition to NFLR runners is a super nice woman that is slated to compete in her first “Ironman” next year. Despite having a tri-coach she feels strongly that she would like more specific focus on her running. It can often get tricky to work with an individual that has other coaches but, we are getting use to those types of challenges and we can in most cases make it work. Not sure her tri-coach will appreciate our involvement but, she was adamant that she is not at all happy about where her running is. This morning I am actually sipping my coffee and listening to Christmas music while I chat. I am definitely a Christmas person and love just about every part of this season and music is a big part of it for me. I hear people talking of getting sick of Christmas music and I understand that it seems to start earlier and earlier for marketing reasons but, once I start listening (Thanksgiving night), I thoroughly enjoy it. Now I can’t say that I like much of the new Christmas music and that is more a reflection of my age and being more of a traditionalist. All things Christmas come and go quickly, so I try to enjoy the season. I actually miss going out and Christmas caroling as we use to do many years ago. I am a terrible singer however, being out there sharing the spirit of the season with others is really cool. This morning I will be running my last physical fitness test. Tuesday night I pulled my groin so I am unsure of how that will affect me but, I will get through it. Talking with my commander yesterday I said that I could just show up and fail and it wouldn’t matter. He said “Yeah but, one person wouldn’t allow that and that person would be you.” I agree however, I am going to get it done without pushing myself. A groin pull can become a longer term problem if not treated properly. Right now I am hopeful that it was just tweaked and haven taken a few days off I am hoping it will be okay. We will see! Time to get along. Hope you have a great weekend and get that shopping done! God Bless! Mike
