Friday Coffee and Chat with the Coach

Good morning! I got in last night from my week in Central America and I am glad to be back! As always I have a lot going on between NFLR, work, preparing for the Pease Relay race, and my own running. My own running didn’t really suffer this week as I was able get 3 runs in on the hotel treadmill as well as some core stuff. While the treadmill isn’t my first (or even second choice) for running, there was not any other options for various reasons. Instead of bemoaning it, I made the best of my treadmill runs and that seemed to actually let me enjoy it as much too some extent. (More about the treadmill at another time.) While it is always great to have the opportunity to experience another country, right now I have so much going on, I rather not be thousands of miles away. Good to be back! This week we somewhat moved into our latest NFLR phase of training. Starting out this past Monday, Kathy and Meghan led a trail run in Dover at 5:30am, Tuesday was to be at the track, but got canceled because of weather, Wednesday evening was a pub run down at the “7th Settlement Brewery,” last night our destination race group met at the Center and tomorrow morning (8:30am), we will be back at the Center for another group run. I am excited about our new schedule for training, as we really believe it offers awesome flexibility for everyone that wants to take advantage of NFLR certified coach led training groups. I am certainly challenging our team of NFLR running coaches with this aggressive schedule but, now that we have 5 RRCA certified coaches we the unique ability to offer more than just group runs. Having a certified coach lead a group means you have someone that is trained in devising running plans, knowledge of technical running form and CPR qualified for your safety. All said our running coaches are more than just group leaders and this really does set us apart from others that just gather people up for a run. A dear friend of mine and a longtime leader in the seacoast running community as she is one of the Coastal Athletic Association founders, Sybil Carven asked me to mention a race that she involved with. I absolutely would support any event that Sybil is part of, as she has not only been a great friend to me but, a huge friend to the seacoast running community. If you can support this event that would be awesome! Here is the press release: Looking for a great 4 mile road race right in your backyard? Look no further and come join us for the annual Kittery PTA Seaside 4-Miler to be held in Kittery Point on Sunday, September 20th. 100% of the proceeds go right to the schools and the community.
