Good morning!
First up: My heart and prayers go out to the state of Florida. Seems like everyone I know, like me have family and friends who live there (I have both). This has been a rough few weeks for those in Texas and Louisiana and now it looks worse for most if not all of Florida. Later today, I will be on my way to North Carolina, and thankfully as of now, we should be safe from Irma, but I am taking empty sandbags with me as a precaution.
Not a great few weeks for me and my fitness or diet. Yesterday, I pushed myself to get out and do some intervals, which was my first running all week. Combine that with some poor eating and it would be easy for me to get bothered with myself or even give up, neither will happen. Though it is not the 100 percent reason, but my focus has on other stuff in life the past few weeks and workouts have taken a backseat. Even my poor diet has been partly due to life and circumstances. While I have developed a fairly healthy mindset over the past 10 years, I also have realized that there will be times when I let life dictate my choices. That seems to work well for me, as opposed to beating myself up. Though, I do hope to get a second strength training session in for the week this morning and maybe a run tomorrow when I get to Pinehurst. Develop good habits, don’t let them fade and be okay with short breaks that life dictates. (Such as a new granddaughter!)
It is apple season! I am thrilled that I got up to my favorite family farm, Butternut Farm, in Farmington yesterday and pick some Cortland apples. Kathy and I have been visiting Butternut Farm for 18 years now and it is a wonderful place to get apples and more! Yesterday, the more happened to be the warm cider apple doughnuts (yum).
Speaking of Apples, once again NFLR is race directing the 2017 Apple Harvest Day 5K on October 7th! This event represents a New England fall race perfectly. The wonderful feel of running in a traditional New England town, the hills, the excitement, and all surrounded by one of the Seacoasts favorite events in Apple Harvest Day. Sign up for this wonderful taste of New England event! https://www.dovernh.org/apple-harvest-day-5k-road-race.
I will finish my last sip of coffee and start preparing myself to strength train. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to get out and run!
God Bless!
Mike
