Friday morning coffee is the best!

Good morning and no doubt you share my sentiments about today being Friday! Thank goodness! Last night my half marathon training group was blessed with one of those perfect evenings to run along the seacoast. The temperatures were perfect, the sun was setting over the coast line and very little humidity. Truly a great night for a run and to enjoy the beautiful New England coast. We were out there for a 60 minute run so most got in at least 5 miles, while others ran well over 6. Running for time has become quite a success with the goal of allowing each runner to train at whatever their level may be, not holding anyone back or forcing someone to run further than they are ready. Both the more advance runners and the lesser experienced runners are proceeding systematically toward the ultimate goal of running 13.1 miles, but this training allows for varied skill levels without any undue stress. I use this same technique with individual runners but not for the same reasons. For me this week has been a challenge physically as I have not felt 100 percent since my weekend of Reach the Beach. Hopefully with a weekend of relaxing I will continue to recover. As much as I enjoy RTB, I certainly feel the effects of the increased mileage and the sleep deprivation. If I am back out there next year I will plan to take the week off proceeding RTB. Knowing that I would have some downtime after RTB would probably make it that much more enjoyable. This Sunday I am going to share some insider information on a meeting we had this past Tuesday night at Starbucks. This meeting was all about NFLR and the way ahead. Six of us were there going over the current state of NFLR and how we should proceed. Really good stuff and the future of NFLR is going to be amazing! Enjoy your coffee and your day!
