Friday morning initervals

Good morning! Grab your mug of coffee and let’s hit some quick intervals together. Tomorrow morning is the Jingle Bell Half Marathon in Atkinson New Hampshire. I have never run it but, I hear it is a hilly course and after studying the course website I can see it is definitely a challenging course. We have 2 No Finish Line Running clients that will be running the race and I have great interest in both. One is Mark Arsenault who I have been his running coach for since the fall and the other the woman that I mentioned a few weeks back, who came to me wanting a miracle of sorts. Mark is a great part of our NFLR family and a very talented runner. I have worked to change his mindset as far as his training approach and it has been a lot of fun. The second runner has definitely been a challenge but, I have experimented the short training opportunity and am interested to see how it works. Should be a great day for the race. As a running coach and owner of a coaching business, I enjoy the diversity of runners we are able to work with. Challenging runners and people can be frustrating however, learning to maintain our fundamental “Intelligent Training” model while being creative, really helps us grow as running coaches. Having 5 RRCA Certified Running Coaches we are well prepared for all levels of runners and that is really cool but, having unique challenges come our way helps us improve in ways we can’t often plan for. Every NFLR runner in our family of clients helps our coaches become better as they are all unique and require an individualized independent coaching approach. Some may just me more challenging than others! I returned to New Hampshire midweek this week and I am excited to be back and out on the roads with NFLR. Wednesday night was awesome as the “NFLR Winter Running Group” was at our regular location (7th Settlement Brewery) for our midweek pub run. After a great run a few of us hung around and enjoyed dinner, a libation and great conversation. This particular training group is great in that people will be able to jump in throughout the winter with no pressure of being behind the training because we really aren’t training for a set race. Yeah we will most likely run the “Reds Shoe Barn 5 Miler” in April but, that is a ways off, so come join us anytime. Great way to run through the winter! Winter is officially here in like 10 days! Looking for a great Christmas gift? Pick up a gift certificate from NFLR. Pilates, strength & conditioning, gait analysis, and various running coaching services are all available to give someone as a gift. We have beautiful gift certificates that we personalize for people and you can pass on a great gift that will make a difference to any runner or want to be runner. Let me know and we will get one in the mail to you. Unseasonable temperatures out there around the northeast. Take advantage of the shorts running! I am sipping my coffee this morning and chatting from Penny University Coffee House and I am here to tell you; this place is the best coffee house on the seacoast! Great coffee, lattes’, atmosphere and food! Just now Andrew Cramb, one of NFLR’s family of runners stopped in and it was great to see him! There is nothing like our running community of runners. Time to move along. Have a great weekend and see you on the roads! God Bless! Mike
