Friday Morning Quick Intervals
Friday, November 14, 2014 · Mike Davis
Good morning! Being that it is Friday that means we grab a cup of coffee and we hit some quick intervals! Let’s hold that coffee tight and roll! Everyone can relax as I took my Air Force Fitness Assessment yesterday and I passed! The assessment is an annual requirement that consist of waist measurement, situps, push-ups and a times 1.5 mile run. No it is not tremendously hard but for some reason I get a little anxious before taking it each year. Good to be done with it. Next Tuesday night will be our first No Finish Line Running Winter Running program. The plan is to meet together on Tuesday’s at 6:00 from the “7th Settlement Brewery” on Washington Street in Dover and on Saturday mornings at 8:30 at Juicy Roots on 3rd street in Dover. In between you will be able to follow along a training plan based on whatever your goal is. This Tuesday we will meet at the parking lot for One Washington Place and go from there. No matter where you are at with your running we will have a plan set up for you! If you want to hang around after and enjoy a drink at the 7th Settlement that may be fun! If you are wanting to train for the Half at the Hamptons (current 5 mile minimum required), we will be training for that as well. If you are just wanting to join for the winter to run, the investment will be $50.00 or if you want to train for the half marathon the investment will be $100.00. Both groups will meet together and we will have a plan for all runners base on their goals and current running condition. So invest in yourself and make this the best winter you have ever had by getting out and running! Contact me if you have any questions and if you aren’t training for the half, feel free to join in with our group of winter runners any time! This group will have a lot of fun! I am still thinking that I want to organize a destination race training group sometime in the future. Anyone have any thoughts on what destination and race would be a good one? Just think train for 4 to 5 months and then go off to some cool spot for a long weekend and run in a race. Give me some ideas! I am working on another running coach certification and this particular one is quite intense. Lots of anatomy and that’s not exactly my strong suit. The difference between studying no and back when I was in high school, is that I am actually interested in the significance of anatomy now as how it relates to runners. Still not easy to absorb, but I understand the value in understanding. While it is nice to add another certification, for me adding more knowledge is always the goal. This course will challenge me but in the end I will better be able to help runners. This will not be no quick course either as I won’t be done until sometime in the middle of next year! Finding the time to study is a challenge but constant education is part of the NFLR philosophy so we have to make time. Less than 2 weeks till Thanksgiving! Thanks for hitting a few intervals with me and sharing a cup of coffee. I am off to meet an old friend for breakfast. Have a great Friday and an even better weekend! Mike
