Friday's quick hitters!
Friday, October 25, 2013 · Mike Davis
Good morning and I'm sure many are in the TGIF mode! Friday's will be "quick hitters", meaning some quick thoughts on various topics not necessarily just running. So let's get going! We rid ourselves of cable TV so we have no way of watching the world series, so the first 2 games we have watched at Castaway's, a small bar and restaurant. One of our favorite places because of the location on the river and a great hamburger. We seem to be in the minority as to it being a great place to watch the series because there's been only a handful of people there. Shout out to Jennifer Hagwood who is running the Marine Corp Marathon this Sunday. Have fun Jennifer, run a smart race and be sure to smile at the finish line. Jennifer is trying an app that will update Twitter every 5 miles and it will be a great way for me to follow her. This week all our Seacoast Half Marathon loved us as they had a couple easy 45 minute runs. They have done great to this point and with all the miles they have run it was good to let them go easy. As this blogger mentioned a week ago, the Seacoast Half Marathon will indeed be run on the regular course due to a delay in closing down the Sagamore bridge. So no crazy route this year and this should make many people happy! Gait analysis is up and running at NFLR and now the people of New Hampshire don't have to travel miles to have their running gait analyzed. Really cool to be able to help people see where they are inefficient, weak, lacking awareness or off balance. Detecting a problem area is only part of a good analysis; helping people to correct it is equally as valuable. Speaking of gait analysis, be watching for a great charity event that NFLR will be conducting that will tie in to our gait analysis program. Good news on my hip. After a few weeks of running smart, strength training and rolling, my hip is improving and running last night was great! Speaking of running last night, one of my past runners reprimanded me for not being visible enough despite wearing a reflective vest. Dumb coach! Lesson learned. Tough game for the Red Sox to lose last night! New half marathon in Atkinson NH on December 14th. I'm already hearing lots of excitement about running it. Half marathon's are definitely becoming the race of choice. Over the next week or so I am going to write about helping your running while you are driving. Well, my coffee cup is nearly empty and I have limited time to workout this morning so I will bid you a happy Friday! mike
