Friday's Quick Intervals and Coffee

Friday, November 07, 2014 · Mike Davis

Good morning, With it being thankfully Friday that means it is time sprint around the running world and more... This Sunday will be the Seacoast Half Marathon and when that race ends I am off the clock with "Runners Alley" training groups for the year and ready to go crazy with the business of "No Finish Line Running!" Training the Portsmouth Runners Alley half marathon group is the culmination of multiple RA training groups that start in the spring so while I enjoy them, I am ready to solely focus on NFLR! Much to do at NFLR, so the time will be well spent! The No Finish Line Running "winter training" group is only weeks away and I am pretty excited about that! We will be running the streets of Dover and also enjoying some local flavor as we meet up at "Juicy Roots" on Saturday's and a soon to be announced Dover pub on Tuesday nights. Not sure how big this group will be, but two or more makes a group! (There will be more than 2). Sunday's weather is improving for the Seacoast Half so it should be a great day for running. Kathy and I will be out on the course supporting our training group as well as any of you we see. Make sure you give us a shout out if you see either of us. Great race and may be the most popular on the seacoast. This morning my wife and I are going to go out for an easy run around Dover. We have not had the opportunity to run together alone this fall with the exception of our half marathon so it will be nice to get out there together. Dover has become a popular town for running as well as races and I think that Dover offers runners a great alternative to Portsmouth. While it is pretty difficult to beat the beauty of Portsmouth as well as the coastal ways, but Dover has a great New England feel and the hills are great for training! One of my other running related responsibilities is being the New Hampshire Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) state representative. As the RRCA state rep. I mostly help RRCA affiliated running clubs and organizations stay abreast of what is going on at RRCA. One of the great programs RRCA offers is the state championship series which offers races of all distances to submit applications to be considered for and if selected RRCA will provide many resources for the event. Road Runners Club of America is also a great organization for individual runners to stay tuned into as they are a large national running club. Check them out at: http://www.rrca.org/. They have many great resources for clubs and runners. I will write more about this soon, but I am trying to end 2014 on an high note. Been a difficult year for my running and general fitness. Today is a new day and that means opportunity! Time to finish up and get a moving! Hope you have a great "thankfully Friday!" Hope to see many of you out at the Seacoast Half! Mike
