Friday's Quick Intervals

Good morning and happy holidays! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I had a very nice day, my older brother and his wife came and had dinner with us which was a first. Though I'm not sure I met the Santa criteria (being good), but I received far more than I should have! Two great running tops and the Garmin Forerunner 620. The 620 is the latest amazing device put out by Garmin and once I figure out how to use it, I will have a great tool for my personal running. My wife is way to good to me! I know it is a cliché but I have definitely eaten way to many cookies and pie the past week or so! Christmas is about celebrating the birth of the baby Jesus, but after that it's about the Christmas music, holiday treats and watching Bing Crosby in "White Christmas". Yes of course it is also about giving, which I love to do and sharing this special time with family, but part of that sharing is the treats that everyone brings around. I try not to go crazy, but I don't deprive myself (not even close) either. Instead I enjoy each bite and try to be reasonable, but I also use the extra calories to motivate my workouts. I doubt I'm burning more than I'm taking in, but it's only a couple weeks. January 2nd I will be fully back to my typical routine of strength training, running and better eating habits. In fact, be looking for my 2014 diet strategy on Sunday or Wednesday. Not a diet in the sense that people view diets but more a change to my approach to eating. Will definitely be a challenge, so be sure to check in on Sunday. Another reason to check back will be to learn of the new additions that will be coming over the next 12 months! We will be adding more great resources for runners of all levels for both our clients and those that frequent the website. January will bring a partnership with Sport and Spine of Newington/ Portsmouth. This partnership means additional facilities for us to work with clients and offer a place to work on your running strength training. More details will be forthcoming over the next few days. Also, I'm hoping that my website guru will set up this blog so that y'all can leave your comments on a particular subject or questions. That will be a lot of fun for the readers and for me! So we will continue to work at being be best personal running resource for all levels of runners. I know about all the running magazines and websites available to runners, but the NFLR mission is to offer personalized resources that value each individual. Because our mission is what it is, I will continue to challenge our team to improve on what we currently do and add whatever will benefit individual runners. Our website IT guy is great with looking at all of our ideas and trying to make them work, but some take time and patients. More to come, but feel free to let us know at info@nofinishlinerunning.com what you would like to have as far as a running resource? With January 1, 2014 less than a week away many start thinking about their goals for the New Year. Some call them resolutions, I call them goals. As I mentioned earlier I have a goal of changing my diet habits, but I also I have few goals for the New Year as well. Some of mine are running goals, some overall fitness, another is a little more interesting (stay tuned) and some are personal. I will share some of mine next week, but be thinking about yours and if they are fitness related we can definitely assist you. I will tell you unequivocally that at 360 gait analysis is the best place to start if you want to improve your running or prevent losing time to injuries. Don't wait until you are injured to consider a gait analysis, instead get an in depth look at your running and determine how to improve or correct your gait. Well time to finish the last of my coffee and go workout. Have a great Friday and a super weekend! Thanks for your time! Mike
