Friday's Quick Intervals

Good morning Runners! Grab your favorite cup, fill it up with some Joe and lets go! Few weeks ago I mentioned that my rather expensive super duper coffee maker stopped working and I had to send it back. Well this week the brand new replacement is up and running and pumping out fantastic coffee. Nothing like a cup of fresh ground organic black coffee! Winter came back this week and most are none to happy about it. Better days ahead and the weekend looks perfect for running. I am hoping that my calf is ready after a week off. Yesterday I went to Planet Fitness with the hopes of getting a workout on a rowing machine. When I got there I asked if they had rowing machines and the young lady at the counter said she thought they had a couple and pointed me in the direction of where she thought they were. Well after walking around for a few minutes I went back and told her I had no luck finding them and she replied; "Oh maybe we don't have them any more." Good grief, but not to fear I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro using an elliptical machine. Felt good to get some cardio in but the air got kind of thin at the top. As I wrote about on Wednesday, Nicole Spirito had joined the NFLR team and now you can tap into another fantastic resource. Nicole can be contacted at Nicole@nofinishlinerunning.com. She sent me her bio the other day and I am actually intimidated by her experience and passion. My goodness I may not be able to keep up! Boston is 3 days away and there are a lot of excited people out there. Going to be crazy, but very special for lots of people. Here's to hoping that it will be crazy good, and not crazy stupid. Runners are the best people and messing with them is not cool. Tuesday night before the start of the 10K training group run we had Johanna Voss speak to us on nutrition. Johanna is an amazing nutritional diet coach and she really understands nutrition and runners. You can reach Johanna at johanna@johannavoss.com, if you want to get some help with your nutrition or just get on her email list. She sent me a great recipe for "Guiltless Chocolate Chip Cookies" that are perfect for someone like me. If you have a group of people that you would like Johanna to speak to, she will gladly accommodate. For me I appreciate that Johanna is a runner and that helps her to speak to my needs and those that I work with. What's going on this weekend? Besides celebrating Easter which is truly meaningful to Kathy and I, we will be having dinner with our old neighbors (and running partner). Hope that you enjoy your weekend whatever you do and come on back on Sunday before church and enjoy a cup of coffee with me. Have a great day! Mike
