Friday's Quick Intervals
Friday, May 16, 2014 · Mike Davis
Good morning! Today is Friday so that means we tighten the laces, poor a good hot cup of coffee and hit those intervals. Let's go! Hard to believe that Red Hook 5K is little over a week away! I will be once again participating as a volunteer and you can look for me at the corner making sure all the runners are safe. I really enjoy watching all the runners and getting to see many familiar faces. Be sure to give me a shout out as you pass me by! Great event and raises money and awareness for the Krempels Center. Meeting next week with our website team and looking to make some significant changes and improvements. If you have any suggestions or changes you would like to see, please leave a comment. We spend lots of hours brainstorming, trying to come up with ideas that will make a difference to runners and provide resources that truly help. Some of the ideas are not so simple to enact but our IT guy (Doug), works tremendously hard at taking our ideas and making them happen. Looks like the Smuttynose marathon is back on the schedule for the fall. Thinking about doing your first marathon? Want to run a better marathon? Let NFLR help you get to the finish or improve your finish time. Our experience with runners of all levels truly makes a difference and lets runners focus on just running. This particular marathon course is fast and prime for those wanting to “Boston Qualify”, so don’t leave it to chance and let us help you get there! Next Thursday night we will be back with a group run, so look for the details early next week and come join us for a fun group run! I have to make sure I get signed up for one of my favorite races; the York Days 5K. Great course that takes you along the beach, but what I really enjoy is a chance to see many runners that I have worked with throughout the years. Between working with runners, injuries and our crazy schedule, I haven’t been able to run any races so York will be my first race of 2014. Working on a piece for “Coffee and Chat with the Coach” that is going to be centered on a testimony from Jaime Pridham. Jaime is our longest client and her story is nothing short of amazing. Her two year journey has brought her to point where she is now ready to train for her first marathon. No Finish Line Running has been alongside Jaime through some wonderful milestones and this new goal will be exciting to be a part of as well. Looking forward to this “Coffee and Chat” Another client, Lori Truman has been training with NFLR for a good part of a year and will be running the Red Hook 5K. While this may not be a big deal to some, Lori has a wonderful story that we will share at some point as well. She came to NFLR wanting to get professional running coaching and what we did was hold her back which has been no easy task. Now she is ready to join the thousand plus runners in Portsmouth and release the enthusiasm that we have been asking her to somewhat suppress. If you knew Lori, you would clearly understand how difficult it is to reign in her desire to further and faster every time out. Time to get along so have a great day and enjoy your weekend! Mike
