Friday's Quick Intervals
Friday, October 03, 2014 · Mike Davis
Good morning! Friday is upon us and that means we hold a cup of coffee steady while we cover some short intervals. My coffee is on the stronger side this morning, so I am rearing to go! This Sunday is the Maine marathon and NFLR client Sarah Grazier will be there at the start line ready to accomplish something quite special! Sarah's training has been well chronicled lately and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have helped someone that embraces the NFLR philosophy. Sarah and I had an early morning strategy session earlier in the week, so Sarah will have a plan as she moves through a beautiful course with the many other runners. Strategy sessions are fun for me and important to the runners. With clear course guidance the runner only needs to run. Sarah is not concerned about time, but managing pace is still critical to enjoying any race. Have fun Sarah! Staying with the Maine Marathon briefly, I also want to send a shout out to Troy Martin and Mariah Keith who are former runners I have worked with and will be running their first marathon as well. It has been great seeing them out there on the road each Saturday morning. Have fun y'all! Crazy that October is upon us! I am doing some research trying to find a race to highlight for the month, let me know if you have any suggestions. The criteria is simple: fun, unique and charitable. If you know of one that fits that criteria, pass it on to me. Good to see Kara Goucher back healthy and running. Even the best runners deal with injuries. Met with a professional strength trainer this week as well and we are looking to team up our services. I have long advocated that strength training is critical to runners so this is a fantastic opportunity! More to come. NFLR continues to thrive here on the seacoast of New Hampshire and the challenges that come with that are numerous. Lew Ricker is once again helping NFLR and it is great to have Lew back in the fold. Lew stepped away for a while to deal with some injuries, but thankfully he is back and gives us another valuable asset. NFLR is about running resources and we will continue to develop with the help of people like Lew. Time to move along. Have a great Friday and a super weekend! Mike
