Friday's Quick Intervals

Good morning! I hope you all had a great Christmas and got everything you wanted. I pretty much started out with having everything I want so anything I got was just a special bonus. For me Christmas time means so much more than the trading of gifts. My enjoyment started weeks ago with the music, followed by various times with some great friends, then enjoying my family and culminating with the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. I only wish I was able to make more time for those friends and family that I love so dearly, but I was truly grateful for the time I did get. I will get into more detail about my goals for 2015 next week, but friends and family will definitely be high on my list of priorities. This morning I am writing from Pinehurst North Carolina where I am sipping coffee and enjoying the peaceful country setting. Kathy and I did get in one run this week and our goal is to run today as well, but if we don’t that is okay. I fully encourage all of our NFLR runners to focus on enjoying the Christmas season ahead of running and I follow that mindset as well. Taking some time away from running to sit longer with your loved ones or hang out with your friends is okay and a great way to keep running. Running should never be a chore or something that keeps you from celebration of such meaningful moments. You and I will get back on the road shortly and we will appreciate the feeling all the more. Getting in a run this time a year can be special and even part of a great tradition, but it should never be at the cost of time away from enjoying the Christmas season. Balance! With it now being officially winter, our days are now getting longer! Slowly we will gain a little more daylight and for us runners that is gold! The weather has been is crazy as ever, but we need not worry that we won’t get to enjoy some “true” winter running. There will be many great challenging days ahead that will give us the opportunity to be “winter runners.” I am okay with a few less than some might hope for but I am certainly up to the challenge. I will not be able to run with our “NFLR Winter Running Group” tomorrow, but I will be back on Tuesday and hope to see many people! Tomorrow the group will be running from Juicy Roots in Dover at 8:30, so come run. Tuesday we will be at the 7th Settlement Brewery (6pm). This group has been lots of fun and we definitely welcome anyone that might want to come get ready for the “Reds Shoe Barn” 5 miler in April. Next week we are going to roll into 2015 with a huge, huge announcement that will rock the Seacoast! This is not over hype by any means and we are really excited to share the big news, but we need to finalize some details. Super exciting!! Time to finish up and move along. I truly hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are still in the midst of enjoying the season. Have a wonderful Friday! God Bless! Mike
