Friday's short intervals

Good morning! I continue to I try and come up with a good title for Friday's blog where I hit briefly on various running topics and sometimes non running topics. If you have an idea, shoot me an email at mike@nofinishlinerunning.com and if I use your title I will give you a custom designed NFLR technical shirt. Last night was the final group training for this Sunday's Seacoast Half Marathon. The training has been great and everyone is ready. Hard to believe it was my last run with this group. Definitely bitter sweet because I enjoy all the runners, but also look forward to more open time in my schedule. Speaking of the Seacoast Half, be sure to check out our NFLR flyer in the bags! My daughter Jennifer who is the mastermind behind much of the creative side of NFLR designed a great postcard that will be in each runners bag. Check it out! We have an annual fitness test requirement in the Air National Guard that consist of: sit ups, push-ups, 1.5 mile run and a waist measurement. I was actually administering the test to a group of 20 people with one being my wife Kathy. She came across the finish line at 11:08 topping off her test and scoring a perfect 100 percent! To put her score in prospective, out of a 1000 plus Guardsman only about 25 score a perfect 100. Kathy works hard and takes a lot of pride in her fitness. For her it will be her last fitness test as she will be retiring next year. What a way to go out! Speaking of my wife, be sure to stop in to Runners Alley and say hi to one their newest employees. Kathy is working there part time these days in preparation for her next career. Great addition to the staff! Wednesday night I was doing a free consultations with a delightful woman and typically consultations run about an hour but this particular one was almost 2 hours when she said she had one final question. I could not have imagined what else she could ask at that point. Her final question was: "Why should I do this? Why should I hire you?" What a great question and one that I have never heard before. In the coming weeks I will use that question to write my thoughts and response to her. It was a great question! November 15th is going to be the beginning of a huge event for NFLR and it will run for a month so pay attention and don't miss out! Teaser!!! Hope you have a great Friday and thanks for having a cup of coffee with me! mike
