Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! With the celebration of Easter also comes April and better running. Yesterday was as about a perfect morning to run as we have had in some time! As I made my way around Dover wearing only one layer of clothing I felt the comfort of being free from the chains of winter! Yeah pretty dramatic but I am one of those people that thinks less is best. To a point!! The past week was crazy for me but I was happy that I got in all my running and all my strength training. Between coaching, work and other commitments getting in my workouts can be a challenge. I also did a 7 day diet free of red meat and any bread product. Coming off our mini vacation to the Cape where I ate to many deserts I felt like I needed to do something. The results of my 7 day diet were positive; I lost a few pounds. For now I will try to limit my diet to maybe 2 days a week of red meat and much less bread. As far as the bread, despite eating a very healthy whole wheat bread, I feel like I have too much of it. Between toast and peanut butter in the morning and a sandwich for lunch, I probably need to find an alternative for lunch. Bread is definitely one of those things that make life easier as we can throw it in the toaster, make a sandwich, grab a sub or even something healthy between it. While the bread has some value it is still a carbohydrate that eventually turns to sugar. For me I have to be careful because I can easily put on a few pounds from all the bread products I eat. I am working on some new additions for the NFLR website and hopefully by the end of April I will roll out them out. Working with a great team of website designers and advisors I am able to propose ideas and they help make them happen. I am happy with the website but not content. I want the site to be the perfect tool for all runners and that takes creativity and work. Where we have come from the beginning is amazing, but it’s not nearly where I want to be! If you have any thoughts on what you would like to see on the website please let me know. Next week for example I am going to start posting some technical pieces that runners might find helpful. I don’t want a Runners World type website, but more of a personal website that provides support to all runners. Well that’s it for now so have a great day and enjoy your Easter! mike
