Helping People

Good morning!

First things first. Yesterday I was back out with the NFLF Winter Pacers group running for 60 minutes and that run capped off a week of running three times. Great accomplishments for me!

With only 16 days till Christmas, I hope you are finding time to enjoy the season. I am scooting from here to there, so it has been a bit of a challenge to take in the season. I did spend a little time in Target Friday night looking at toys for our grandchildren. I was somewhat successful, so that is nice. More to do, so I must make time.

Let me throw in a cheap plug for gifts you might consider for someone who would appreciate help with their running or improved fitness. We are offering 3 incredible gift certificates at a huge discount.

One of my favorite things to do is gait analysis. I have been doing them for over 5 years now and between the experience and my certification, I continue to learn more every time I do one. This past week I had a guy come in who is struggling with his running after multiple surgeries. His concern is that his running continues to digress, and he believes the surgeries and the considerable amount of arthritis in his feet will prevent him from running as he once did. His physical limitations definitely pose limits on his running gait, but our goal was to see if we can improve other aspects of his running efficiency.

Not long into the gait analysis, I quickly saw the results of his physical limitations, but I also saw some running form flaws. Before even having to see the video, I had some questions based on what I was seeing. I often resist asking questions during the actual video time, but I needed to understand if his physical limitations were the cause of what I was seeing. His response made me inwardly smile, as I believed what I saw was correctable and could very well help his running efficiency.

I will spend the next couple of weeks analyzing his running gait through the 17 different video clips My initial views confirmed my thoughts I had from the video session, but there are many more analyzing sessions ahead of me. I may even take the video to a physical therapist for further insight based on his physical issues. As I said the encouraging thing is; I believe I can help him improve to some degree and that is what gait analysis is all about.

Between our experience, education and professional gait analysis system, we have the best running form program around. Give someone a gift certificate to help their running!

Thanks for having coffee with me. Have a great week and keep the reason for the season in your heart!

God Bless!

Mike
