Late morning coffee
Wednesday, October 02, 2013 · Mike Davis
This morning my coffee is quite a bit later and somewhat different. With the Government shutdown I am temporarily relieved of my fulltime employment with the Air National Guard. This will be an interesting period of time but I will utilize much of the downtime to work on NFLR and some of the great new improvements. Earlier this week we incorporated "Client Pages" to the NFLR website. This has been in the works since we moved to the new website and has been my number one priority. Now personalized coaching can be taken to another level and I could not be more excited! Clients will now have their own page that is exclusive to them and NFLR. Right now the client can see their monthly training plan, log in their workouts and other information and get immediate responses from NFLR. Data can also be exported to Excel for easy viewing and comparing. The fantastic thing about the client page is that it will continuously evolve as we determine better ways to serve our clients. Helping runners will always be at the core of NFLR; all we strive for will begin and end with that. Obviously "client pages" are directed at NFLR clients and that is a limited group of people. NFLR also seeks to help all runners whether they are paying client or not, so we strive to provide tools for all that come to NFLR. It would be naïve to pretend that we don't seek out paying customer as they are an important part of our business and make improving and staying in business possible. As a coach I hate the money part of the business but the reality is that we can't offer first rate resources without financial support. With few exceptions, most runners have felt their investment in improving their running has been minimal compared to the results that have gained. Sure as a coach I would rather just coach and leave the business side to someone else, but as the founder of NFLR I have a desire to build a business that is innovative and truly helps people become the runners they want to be. My belief that running should be a lifetime activity is at the center of NFLR regardless whether a person wants to run a 5K or a marathon. Building a business model that is dynamic is critical in that NFLR seeks to continuously develop ways to help all runners. Currently we have a staff that has the ability to serve beginners up to marathon level runners and that's a great place to start from. Note that I said; "start from". As we grow and evolve we were continue to add resources that literally make us your "One stop shopping" place for "healthy, fun and competitive running". Such resources as: nutrition, gait analysis, running shoes advice and much more, will be introduced over the next few months. The term I used above in describing our business model was "dynamic", and what that means is that we won't stop with nutrition, gait analysis, running shoes, but instead we will continuously seek out ways to serve all runners. So as you can see NFLR is busy! You may even have noticed that our home page has a new look. Thanks to our website builder Doug MacKinnon, we are making great new changes! What you see today will look different in the months to come. "Dynamic!" Please feel free to give us your thoughts and suggestions, we certainly want them. Well have a great day and make it a better one by going for a run! mike
