Life's Challenges

Good morning! I hope your week is going well, myself I am definitely feeling encouraged. Last night on doctor’s orders I ran for the first time since tearing my MCL and my short 2 mile run was okay. Yes “just okay” but I will take that and hopefully build upon it in the coming days. In fact Tom (my physical therapist) canceled my second scheduled appointment for this week as he was pleased with my stability and overall strength. I still have some work to do that requires some discipline, so it is all on me. It felt so good to be back running with the Runners Alley group and I look forward to tonight’s NFLR running group! I won’t say that I am not nervous about the feeling behind my knee but it is time to move forward. This morning we received an email from a client that has been having great success since coming to us last winter. The email expressed a great deal of appreciation for the results as well as the enjoyment he has gotten in his time with us. Unfortunately the email relayed that he had been laid off recently and that despite the importance of running, our services don’t fall in the category of “essential” at this time. My heart goes out to anyone that loses a job and no doubt the stress of unemployment can be immense I am sure. As I responded to the email I reminisced about back when I founded No Finish Line Running and my desire to help runners on a very personal level. I went on to say that while we have taken on a much larger business we have maintained our values as far as being a “personal coaching” service. For that reason we would never leave one of our runners because of these types of circumstances. Some people have no allowed for us to continue on during these same circumstances but I truly hope this gentleman does. While some businesses might say that it is not fair to give away your services while others pay for it, but I am willing risk losing business over my beliefs. We have never put profit ahead of people and if we can’t back it up by supporting our runners during tough times then I won’t stay in business. Don’t get me wrong, being business is not without overhead and expense but NFLR will only be as successful as our ability to serve people. I like any other business owner often wonder how the bills will get paid but they will and along the way we develop meaningful relationships. Not the same circumstances but last week we had another client hit some hard times and we had to assure that person we would not abandon them as well. Okay if we get another that comes to us I may start losing some sleep but I have great faith that everything will work out in the end. I hope you appreciate a little insight into NFLR and our personalized approach. We truly care about our runners and hope they all succeed in all aspects of their lives. Now I have to get a moving! Have a great day! God Bless! Mike
