Make a 1-Inch Improvement

Sunday, March 19, 2017 · Mike Davis

Good morning!

Sunday’s Coffee and Chat has been later the past few weeks, because instead of trying to sit down before I head out to church, I find it more enjoyable after. I also come back from church much more empowered, so the chat can only be better! :)

This morning I most definitely feel empowered physically and mentally. Again, another quiet week in my workouts but, I have high hopes for this week. Instead of letting a few weeks of minimal activity frustrate me, I will focus on that which I control and that is what I can do this week. It is so easy to fall off the fitness wagon and then mentally stay off but, approaching each day as an opportunity, helps to move 1 inch forward. That 1 inch leads to another and before we know it, we are back to those habits that bring us the greatest satisfaction. Yesterday which is usually my longer run day, was not ideal for running for various reasons (mostly mental) but, late in the afternoon I decided to take Roy for a walk. We walked nearly 3.6 miles and while it may not have had the same value as a run, I felt good for moving and enjoyed seeing Roy’s joy. Health guidelines say that we should do 30 minutes of lite exercise a day or 50 minutes, 3-times a week of vigorous exercise. Strive for whatever is going to fit on a given day and if nothing fits, move on to the next day.

April 15th, No Finish Line Running will begin our Beginner & Intermediate Community Training Group. This group has become a Dover and Seacoast favorite, as it provides great opportunity for various levels of runners to enjoy being part of the running community. With multiple certified running coaches, NFLR is able to provide training that ensures progressive and healthy running. Unlike running clubs, NFLR has trained coaches that focus on helping each runner succeed based on their current running level. Beyond the technical benefits, fun and enjoyment is also the focus. Our belief is that running is a lifelong activity and we want the experience to truly support our belief. We encourage challenging yourself but, ultimately, we want to help you run strong, healthy and enjoy the community aspect. Go www.nofinishlinerunning.com to sign up and get more information. Money back guaranteed! (I’ll get in trouble for that but, that’s okay!)

Time to move along. Have a great day and rejoice, the first day of spring is almost here! May God bless your week ahead and remember, make a “1-inch” improvement each day!
