Mid-week Coffee & Chat

Good morning! Technically not hump day because of Monday being a holiday, but good to be a mid-week already. Things are settling down a bit, with “the center” now open and things set up the way we want them. Tonight will be our strength training class with Jasmin, so stop on by and take advantage of our free introduction offer. Only 4 per class, so you might want to email me and hold a spot. Tomorrow night we will have a closed session of Pilates for the NFLR winter training group and other clients. If you want to get in on a free class, email me and I will see there is room to drop in tomorrow. If not, next week will be open to the public for a free session. Pilates is most definitely a must so start planning on dropping by. If you are concerned about the embarrassing yourself, trust me I will be there and will overshadow everyone with my awkwardness! We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday’s and Friday nights as well as a few hours on Saturday afternoon. Come by and try out some of the equipment or get a running form analysis done. All good stuff! Last night we had a large contingent for our Tuesday night winter training group run. The weather was great and it would be easy to believe that was why we had double digit numbers, but we have had that same size group for some pretty bad nights. This group is definitely not a fair weather bunch of runners. I have so much fun with these runners and it is really nice to stay at the 7th Settlement Brewery after and have a libation and some dinner. Really a great time all the way around. I was pleased with my run as I got in a little over 5 miles and felt pretty good. My back was really bothering me today, so I grabbed a Motrin and that seemed to help. My running has been quite inconsistent lately but I still seem to be able to handle 6 miles or so without feeling the effects of my minimal running. I keep telling myself that I need to get back on a schedule and hopefully I am headed in that direction. As a running coach you feel a certain responsibility as far as being able to run far and fast, but in reality being a running coach works against running far and fast. Working with others is great, but while others are our priority, our own running tends to take a backseat. That can be frustrating on many levels, but being a running coach means our runners come first. I will make it work somehow. This morning I will start my strength training regimen up down at the center. I am thinking I will work on a solid circuit program and then invite others to join me for an early morning class. I may go back to my modified Spartacus training, but not sure. Nice to have a facility that makes strength training easy to do logistically. Be thinking if you might want join in a 6am class that will take only 40 minutes or so. Time to get to it, so have a great Wednesday! God Bless! Mike
