Move to the back coach!

Hope your weekend was great! Today my wife and I ran one of my favorite races, the York Days 5K. I haven't ran a lot of races this year (something like 2 or 3), my focus has been more on coaching and running more for pleasure. The downside of running as I have is that I'm not exactly challenging my personal best times and that's a little tough on the rather large ego I often have. Today was a good example of my current state of running as a bunch of people I coached last year all finished (well) ahead of me! Before I come across like their finishing ahead of me was about my lack of training, I will say that they all have progressed tremendously and there's a good chance I wouldn't beat them on my best day! I actually am very proud of all the runners I have had the honor of working with that I see out at various races whether they finish ahead or behind me. Knowing that they are still running is first and foremost the greatest feeling for me because that's what No Finish Line Running is all about! Beyond that I am thrilled to see them improving as runners despite witnessing it from behind. :) I have been blessed to work with well over 150 runners and at any given race I see many of them. I hope that never changes. Running continues to help me grow as person as I learn so much about the affects on my body. I have been dealing with a problematic hip for 4 years now and short of going to a witch doctor, I have tried everything. I now have a clearer indication of what has been causing the pain and while it may not be something that I can get rid of; I should be able to manage it and continue to run. Understanding that it will take even more discipline on my part and that's a reality that I except and will embrace. Today I felt great and after I got home despite feeling "great", I spent 35 minutes foam rolling and doing some PT exercises. Kind of funny; my post race stretching/PT took longer than it did to run the race! The week ahead will be a little less busy, but still lots of coaching. I really enjoy all the people I get to work with and what's really nice is that my wife is working with me. In fact we will be working together to coach a beginner/ Intermediate half marathon group starting up in a few weeks. As much as I enjoy coaching, I really hate taking time away from my wife. So when we can coach together it's really great and she's a great coach! Today was our second Newsletter and if you haven't subscribed yet please subscribe and provide me and the editor with your feedback. We will continue to incorporate new material and ideas, but your thoughts are important! Check it out! http://eepurl.com/CUyjv Also I am going to become more regular with the blog during the week.
