No Finish Line Running rolled out almost 2 years ago and has been a challenging endeavor on many fronts. In the past year alone there has been no time where I have been without a client, we have also rolled out a professionally designed website and now we will be sharing some space with Runners Alley Portsmouth. The growth has been pretty amazing overall and my hopes is that we continue to develop a running/ fitness business that will be utilized to reach goals and help runners of all levels. I am constantly working at ways to better serve the local community as well as to reach out to people through the internet. So far I have been far more successful with the local area, but continue to work on reaching out to anyone anywhere that would like a personally developed training plan that evolves with their training. Obviously I scour the internet viewing all the different running and fitness training websites and some are very good, some are costly and most just offer cookie cutter training plans. What I have wanted to create is a website that runners can come to and request a training plan that is personally designed based on their goals, current conditioning, schedule and much more. I also wanted to make sure the personal training plan evolved as the runner evolves or in even in some cases; backtracks if needed. Just providing a training plan that assumes each runner will get in X amount of miles each week along with some hills and speed work and then progressing a certain amount each week is certainly not a formula for success. My goal has been to build each training plan to fit every last detail of my client so that the training plan is truly personalized. However as the training progresses (or regresses), I want to be able to adjust as needed. So when I provide a personal training plan depending on the individual, I evaluate their progress and other important factors and tweak the training plan as needed. For clients that want a personal coach this can be day to day, for people that choose only to purchase a personal running plan, it can be as much as week to week, but usually monthly. Unlike a typical running plan that you might pull out of a magazine or off some website, I take in account your needs and those needs are critical to your success. Most if not all websites do not take into account your children, your particular work schedule and so on. I want to know who I am writing a training plan for as much as possible and then I write a plan that gives no excuses to the runner. If you tell me your typical week I then build a training plan based on that. After starting the training plan things don’t go as you had anticipated, we then make changes as needed. Sometimes those changes are short term like a current client who is going through a busy time at work. I will adjust or even encourage her to just relax and not fret about getting in her weekday runs. The great thing about the technology today is that runner could be a thousand miles away and I can still help with their training. I enjoy working directly with runners, but I also don’t want to limit helping others when the technology is there. NFLR is meant to serve runners near and far, I hope you consider our services if you need help with getting started or want to improve. No matter where you are NFLR can provide some level of help to you and a consultation is free of charge!
