Don’t know when I will get this blog out as I am in Savannah Georgia staying on the Air National Guard base where they don’t provide internet service. Truly field conditions!
Things continue to progress in the world of coaching for me and I am really excited about the opportunities. Helping people train for a 5K race is so amazing, training someone for a marathon is much like running a marathon. Putting a training plan together for a 5K is fairly simple, mostly introducing running to a new runner. Putting together a marathon training plan takes a great deal of time. You have to interview the runner first, finding out even the weirdest information such as; how does your spouse handle stress? After I get all the information, I put together a training plan that best fits the individual. General training plans do not take in account so many important factors and can be downright dangerous for people. Any kind of running requires consideration of many factors, when factors aren’t considered, injuries occur or people lose interest. Check out my updated page on training plans to learn more!
Without pushing the need for “a coach” too much, I more convinced than ever that having someone to work with you, will give you the greatest chance of success. Whether it is just to run a 5K or take on a marathon. I strive to help non-elite runners finish 5Ks on up to marathons and I truly enjoy watching people succeed or just become a runner. Working with many beginner groups has afforded me some great experience and wonderful memories. Anyone with some guidance can become a runner and the investment in you is a wise one.
