Quick Chat Friday!

Good morning and Happy Good Friday! Nice to have spring in the air even if there are signs of winter still around us. Things in the running world are definitely in full swing so I won’t be in the same spot more than a few minutes for the foreseeable future. I definitely am accessible but this is one time when I am grateful for technology. Today is typically “Quick Interval Friday” but I am just going to chat a little because of my limited time this morning and not a lot to talk about. The first week of the Portsmouth “Runners Alley 10K Training” is complete and I am pleased with this group already. Everyone is so nice and it seems like everyone gets the concept of trusting our process of conversational pace running. Getting that concept really makes a huge difference in avoiding injuries as well group cohesion. Having most of the group clumped together is truly a wonderful thing. It also helped that we had 2 very nice nights to start out the training. My personal challenges with a heavy schedule of training groups and client will be my own running and strength training. Last night I wanted to get a few miles in prior to the group run so I got to Runners Alley early with a plan to run, but ended up talking with Jeanine (RA owner) for 20 minutes and that pretty much killed my chance of running. I will definitely have to be disciplined about getting in some running time as I really want to average 30 miles a week the rest of this year. Mornings workouts will be a challenge because of my long days, but again discipline will be necessary. Staying busy is great, but it is easy to use “being busy” as an excuse to slack off, so I will set up my week on paper and use that to keep me focused. I am going to wrap it up and get out of here. I definitely have to get better with my regular chats as that is another discipline that is important to me. Have a great weekend and hope to see you out and about! God Bless! Mike
