Quick Coffee and Chat

Good morning Runners! How difficult is it to believe we are already one week into September? My goodness, life needs to slow down some (see last weeks coffee and chat). With Reach the Beach next week, the Pease Relay in mid October and then the Seacoast Half marathon less than a month after that, wow Thanksgiving will be here before you we know it! After we get through with the Seacoast half things will definitely become more manageable as I will focus solely on NFLR clients and a potential winter training group. We are giving lots of consideration to a Dover winter training group that will offer those that want to train throughout the winter but not limit it to a particular distance. That will provide somewhat of a challenge but I like the idea of giving people an opportunity to come together to run, but allowing for varied goals. More to come on that over the next few months. This week will certainly be a challenging one as I finish a stretch of working through the weekend at the base and capping it off with my fourth Reach the Beach race. I am very excited to have the opportunity to run this race along with my daughter Jennifer for the first time. Many of you know Jennifer and will agree with her biased dad that she is truly a great kid and to have her around the running scene is great for all of us. I am prepared though to hear at 3 in the morning that she will never run RTB again! No doubt I will be telling her I agree! We have had some challenges during the final weeks leading up and are still struggling finding a runner and driver, but we will get there and we will have a memorable time! I am so thankful for these opportunities and running has truly been a blessing to our relationship. Time to get off to the base and get this monthly ritual over with! If anyone is looking for a 7 mile running partner this afternoon out at Pease, drop me an email. I am going out for a run at 4. Have a great day! Mike
