Quick hitters

Good morning! Today I'm going to do some quick hitting that will be all over the place... This week I followed the advice I give to many that come down with an injury. Rest, strengthening and lots of foam rolling. Out of the blue my left hip has become tender so I'm doing all I can to handle exactly as I preach to others. Not fun, but big picture view. Getting dark so darn early now. Don't go out without reflective gear and even one of those blinking things. Do not leave the responsibility of your safety up to the person behind the wheel. Less than a month out from the Seacoast Half marathon. This year they have a different route due to the closure of the Sagamore bridge, however the bridge is not closed and the road is still open. Possibly a reprieve for this year? Thanksgiving is coming fast, have you signed up for a turkey trot? I would like to run in a race that gives away homemade pumpkin pies to all finishers. I know there's a few races that give away apple pies, but I'm not sure if their homemade and on Thanksgiving I prefer pumpkin over apple. Both are great with ice cream though. Read a study a little while back that found sucking down a peppermint candy helps running performance. Okay now that sounds like something worth trying. If it doesn't improve your performance, you still get some enjoyment. I have tried it and not sure if it improved anything but I did almost chock on it! I mentioned last week that NFLR will be rolling out Gait Analysis. Over the past year I have video taped runners but nothing like that can compare to gait analysis. With a gait analysis we can breakdown your running gait to a science and detect flaws that when corrected can improve your running efficiency, deter injuries or find root causes for injuries. Gait analysis is in depth look at the functions of your running mechanics and then we can offer ways to correct the flaws. Contact us now for more information. Remember to tilt at your ankles and not your waist. Don't overdress quite yet! Well my coffee cup is empty and it's time to go workout. Have yourself a great Friday and an even better weekend. mike
