Quick Intervals

Good morning! Nothing like Friday mornings! With a week remaining in July it is hard to believe that it is already time to start thinking about fall training groups. Right now we are preparing to roll out our NFLR destination training group that will allow for 5K’ers to prepare for a 10K or 10K’ers to train for a half marathon. The White Mountain Half Marathon is a fantastic race that gives three options. Besides running the complete half marathon, runners can also split the difference with a partner as well. The course is surprisingly flat and beautiful, starting out in the center of North Conway running south on Route 16, turning on to West road in Conway and then head back toward North Conway, ending up back at the train station. The race is on Sunday October 25, with our training group starting Thursday August 5th. This group will meet Thursday’s at 6pm and Saturday mornings at 8:30 with non-structured group runs on Monday evenings at 6pm. Ideally everyone would stay up in the North Conway area the night before so we could enjoy an evening of pre-race celebration and some of us are even staying the night of the race as well. So if you want to train with us start planning now! Nice week of running so far with a track workout Tuesday, hill repeats on Wednesday, an easy 6 miles yesterday and will finish out the week tomorrow with an easy run with the 10K Advanced group. Probably my best week of running since I tore my ACL for sure. Then next week will start on Sunday with the York Days 5K race. This York 5K race will be a great event as NFLR will have two groups running the race; Stonewall Kitchen will be there as well as our Dover training group. I am really pumped for this race as I really love this event and now we will have NFLR runners out there killing it! I will say that I will be considerably slower than years past but that won’t make a bit of difference to me. While we have had some challenging hot days to have to run in, we have also had some really nice days to run as well. Yesterday morning was such beautiful to run and despite a tired body I really enjoyed running around Dover. I have changed up my route lately adding in some of the Dover trails that are fun to run on and also provide some great shade. The trains aren’t particularly long but are a nice way to mix up my run. I know eventually there is supposed to be one long trail and that will be great for the local runners. For good reasons many people love running around Portsmouth and New Castle, but I will take Dover anytime. On Saturday mornings when we run from the Center we go out Spur road which runs along the bay and that is awesome and has very little auto traffic which makes it nice. Small group last night for “Pilates in the Park.” Never can tell this time of year why the numbers fluctuate but summer is a time when people have a lot going on, so we just go with however many people show up. We will be back down at Henry Law Park next Thursday so plan to come join us! Time to get along to work. Have a great day and see you on the roads! God Bless! Mike
