Random Chat

Good morning. This morning I am just going to jump around to random stuff that may or may not be about running. New Hampshire is not getting the storms of last year (yet) but, these past few days have made it challenging for outdoor running for sure. This past Wednesday was frigid and the footing was still covered from the couple of inches of snow the night before. Combined it led us to canceling our weekly pub run and then yesterday the road conditions around Dover were dangerous as well so we asked our runners not to venture out. While we want to keep people motivated and “winter running” we also have to error on the side of safety first. Treadmills present hazards but, not nearly as dangerous as slippery roads and automobiles. As I mentioned last week, I am back traveling again. This weekend I am in North Carolina hanging out with Kathy, Monday I will reverse my direction and head back to the Nation’s Capital where I will work for the next 30 days. After my time in DC I will head back to New Hampshire for a couple days and then I will fly to El Salvador for 5 days. All said I should be back in New Hampshire around the 29th of February to celebrate Leap Year day. Runner’s need not fear I am available for communication and we also have our team of NFLR running coaches covering our New Hampshire Seacoast operations. Last Sunday I chatted about putting off running for another day and I got some great feedback. I would like to say that my chat propelled me to a great week of running and strength training however, it did not. No worries, I may not have turned things around immediately but, I am going to get back to my routine and today is the day! Yesterday would have been a great day to run here in Pinehurst however I chose to take advantage of an offer to play golf and that is my other passion. No regrets as it was 60 and sunny, so it was a nice day for golf. On another chat occasion I will chat more in length but, thanks to our running life style of the past 10 years Kathy and I are blessed to be able to enjoy excellent healthy. Being strong and healthy certainly affords us opportunities to enjoy all sorts of activities much more. I have maintained that while running might not guarantee us a longer life, it will help us to get more out of our lives’ longer. Golf is very much an activity that we both enjoy as well as tennis, hiking and many other physical activities and thankfully we should enjoy all of these for many years to come thanks to running. This past week we welcomed 2 more clients to our NFLR family of runners. I am super excited that we will be working with another Boston Marathoner as well as another woman that has recently come back to running and wants to take her running to another level. Both of these woman are perfect fits for NFLR because while they have immediate challenging goals, they also view running as a lifetime activity. Combining the goals is exactly what our certified running coaches at NFLR are all about and having clients that come to us with that mentality makes our job easy. It will be fun to work with these ladies and I am excited for their future in running. I am going to say goodbye for now. Have a great Sunday and get back on the roads when they are safe! God Bless! Mike
