Roll On, Roll On

Okay, I know I said that Wednesday’s would be treadmill day, but do to the weather and my running partner Justin, I am running outside. I promise there will be some treadmill days, just to change things up and avoid the one or two crappy days left of this winter.

Today’s run was not one exactly one I was excited about as my legs were tired from the 7 mile run yesterday. I mentioned yesterday that I was not thinking 26.2, but some days I wonder if I can get there. The problem is my right hip that has bursitis issues and whether it will hold up? Other parts of my body are feeling the strain of all the miles, but I’m pretty confident in all but my hip. Pray for me.

Justin showed up ready to run, so I changed into my Spiderman running pants and a pretty tight Under Armor shirt. I knew it would amuse Justin, so I wore it out before I put on a loose fitting top. Got to get a few laughs once and a while. The pants are pretty darn tight, but they are the closest thing to shorts as you will get and they cost a bunch, so I have to wear them enough to ease the guilt. I’m not what you would call a style guy (ask Kathy), but I like things that I feel comfortable in. If it had not been for the wind, I would have gone with shorts again, but the wind made it much colder.

We took off and the plan was to go easier and while we may not have gone as easy as we intended, we stayed at a steady pace. The wind certainly reared itself at different points, but its winter and pretty much that’s life! Justin is a great running partner and let me tell you why. Around mile 2 he told me that he read my whole blog! Wow, now 4 people have read it! I think he likes reading his name on such a prestigious website. He’s also a great partner because he knows half as much about baseball as I do. I am pretty much a baseball junkie, and know far too much about it, so having someone to talk baseball with makes for a great partner. Oh yeah, he’s also a very good runner and it’s early in the season, so I can match up with him right now.

Our run was pretty much uneventful, my legs came alive and I felt pretty strong from start to finish. We ran down to the Wildlife Refuge and back, totaling 7 miles. It’s a fairly simple run that requires very little thinking. When things clean up, we will run through Newington Village, which is a very nice run. There are actually many great places to run out in that area, but many people think the Tradeport is a bunch of boring roads. I hardly if ever go on the Tradeport, but instead go out toward the Wildlife Refuge.

We finished up and my nice wife fetched us some Gator Aid and I forced myself to do some stretching. Justin let me know that I was probably on my own tomorrow, so tomorrow’s blog will be real exciting.

See you tomorrow!

Mike

Oh and one last thought: Happy Birthday to Nick! Love you!!
