Rolling Along!

Back with my running partner.

Physically I was uncertain if I was going to run today, as I was concerned that I would kill Saturday’s long run. Around 10:00 my communicator popped up and it was my running partner Justin asking if I would be running with him at 3:00? Being that guy that cannot let someone down, I said no problem, I’ll see you at 3!

Three rolled around and I was actually glad that I decided to run as I felt I needed to run mentally. Justin showed up and after a short delay, we were off running. Initially we went at a great slow pace of around 9:50, but someone (probably me) picked it up and we increased to around 9:00 where we stayed pretty much. Justin was going to run 7 and I was going to run 6, but Justin decided that he would turn with me so we both turned around at the 3.25 point. My legs felt pretty good and that encouraging so the run didn’t seem very tasking. Not a lot of talk, mostly just getting it done.

We finished up doing 6.19 miles and you could not have asked for a better day to be out there. Shorts, no gloves or hat, just incredible for February! The weather has certainly taken some of the challenge out of winter training. Can’t say I’m disappointed that I haven’t had to deal with snowy runs. I am hopeful that after a good rest day on Friday, I will be strong and ready to knock out 14 on Saturday. I will do some strength training on Friday, but avoid taxing my legs too much.

All is positive at this point. I am rolling my hip regularly as I have some IT Band issues in both on top of the bursitis but I can overcome that. I’m hopeful that my base is getting strong and that’s my number one concern. My conditioning will take care of itself if I physically able to hold up during the plus mile runs. My disciplined approach has been good as I have not missed any runs for anything other than protecting a physical issue. Lots of challenges ahead, but trying to maintain a positive approach.

Back at you later!
