Saunders 10K and NFLR

Good morning and cheers for Friday’s! Thanks for sitting down for coffee with me. Wow was last night’s Saunders 10K race a blast! We had over 30 runners from No Finish Line Running out there and everyone I was able to talk with told me that they ran their best 10K ever. How great is that! We have had so much fun with these groups and then to watch them run on a very difficult night, was so awesome. While the temperatures weren’t high, the thick humidity was definitely a challenge for all the runners. As we watched all the runners down the final stretch before making the turn toward the finish, we could see the effects of the humidity not only in their socked clothing but, also on their faces. Humidity is such a drain and more often than not we are fooled by cooler temperatures only to be crushed by humidity. Despite all that, our runners really ran well and I was really proud. Sticking with Saunders, I had a great time being on the sidelines watching all the runners and I especially enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces from my training groups of days gone by. Sadly my memory often failed me as I saw a familiar face but, couldn’t as quickly remember their name. So many runners out there that we (Kathy and I) have had the honor of working with through our time with the Runners Alley training groups and it is always great to see everyone. The running community is so special and not only do we get to cross paths with runners we have coached, but we also get used to seeing many from the Coastal running club that we have been a part of as well as just those that are regulars at each running event. Truly going to a race is fun for me whether I am running it or out to cheer on our NFLR training groups. Saunders might have marked to completion of a couple of NFLR groups but we are still fully engaged with various training groups and options for every level of runner. As I chatted about Wednesday, we have a lot going on and lots of great opportunities for runners. So many people are enjoying our groups and we are working to accommodate as many runners as possible. It is so amazing to have runners ask if we are going to have another group after they just had a blast in one of our other groups. Often that feedback leads to figuring out what’s next and that can be challenging but, we seem to be figuring out how to create opportunities for just about every runner. That is why I am excited about our new schedule that allows for runners to choose what days and times work best and from there they can train for our destination race, some other race or just enjoy the benefits of our certified coach led training sessions. It is not always easy to accommodate everyone and most likely we won’t but, we certainly are getting a close as possible. Time to get along. Have a great weekend and if you are looking for a group run around Dover tomorrow morning, come the NFLR Center for our 8:30 group run. I open the Center at 8:00am for stretching and chat, then we run along the bay. All runners are welcome to join us. God Bless!
