Spring time, running and of course Easter

Good morning and Happy Easter! How awesome is this time of the year! The running community comes alive and with even greater numbers than the past running season. The explosion of running popularity is rivaled by no other activity not only here in the US but across the world. Where once there were a couple hundred runners lining up for a local 5K now there are a couple thousand. Locally here on the seacoast there once was a few running clubs and now that number has doubled and memberships growing as well. Spring is no longer the start of the running season for many because for many the running season never ended. Runners now come out of winter stronger than ever and personal records (PR’s) are hit early in the race season. Spring is still the beginning for a good majority of runners as well as those that are ready to give this wonderful sport a try. New runners are coming to our running community in amazing numbers and spring typically offers many beginner 5K groups to help them get started. “Runners Alley” Portsmouth alone had 46 runners sign up for their beginner 5K training that started last week. Fourth six! In 10 days No Finish Line Running will begin our “Dover Spring/Summer” training group that will include new runners all the way up to more advanced. While it will be challenging to us a coaches we are excited about this opportunity and it should be a lot of fun! All said the running community is alive and growing! This week winds down our “NFLR Winter” training group and this time next week we will cap off our training with “Reds Road Race For a Better Community” 5 miler.” This group has been a lot of fun and has definitely helped all of us keep our feet moving through the very difficult winter we experienced. I am excited for these runners as I feel like they all came out of winter stronger and feeling great! The race itself will be fun, but the enjoyment and camaraderie that this group had was tremendous and we all truly fed off of each other as far as getting out there on some pretty rough nights and days. I am certainly pleased with the success of our first NFLR winter group training. I am also very excited about the training groups we are about to start. The experience coaching Runners Alley’s training groups has certainly benefited me and now to be able to combine that experience with the NFLR model is really something special. The fact that I have runners that have participated in multiple groups I have coached who are going to assist us is really special. If you or anyone you know wants to be part of our NFLR Spring/ Summer training group, please contact us at info@nofinishlinerunning.com. Just got back from church where as always I feel lifted up. Great way to start the week for me and helps to keep me somewhat centered. Easter Sunday is always fun because it is an awesome celebration of the Resurrection and that is very special. Now I am off to my brothers for dinner and hopefully get to see my Mom as well. I hope you are having a special day and an even better week ahead! The Center is busy with activity and if you haven’t come by to try a Pilates class or strength training, come on by!
