Sunday morning chat!

Good morning running world! I hope your weekend is going well, the weather is sure making it a nice one. Yesterday was one of those perfect days to run, do yard work or just hang out and drink coffee! For me in Lew, we spent most of the day going gait analysis and raising a few dollars for the Krempels Center. We are off to a good start and I'm excited about the time we will get to spend with runners analyzing their gaits. Definitely see many similar issues and common themes amongst the running gaits. Balance and strength definitely are areas of weakness' in many runners as well as awareness of how there bodies are actually functioning. Or more importantly how they are not functioning. Definitely awesome to be able to show people exactly what they are doing and have them actually understand because they see it on video. So Lew and I didn't get to enjoy the beautiful outdoors yesterday, we did enjoy working with runners. This past week I mentioned that I am holding back my running some by alternating 5 minutes of walking with 5 minutes of running for two and a half miles. Giving my gait a chance to adjust to the zero drop Asics 33s is the intent and so far I am extremely pleased. I like the shoes and even enjoy the low impact training, but I have to reign myself in when I want to push beyond what I set out to do. I know that the 33s won't repair my labrum or rid me of the arthritis from years of abuse, but with a better feel for my running, I will hopefully feel less affects from the above. I have also used this time to take our dog Roy out for some of these runs and it has gotten him some much needed exercise. More to come as I move along down the road in my 33s. Quiet time for the running world as we move toward Thanksgiving but races are definitely on the increase with Thanksgiving day becoming a huge day to run. Twenty years ago you would have had to travel outside of the northeast to find a race after the early fall and now races are abound and selling out even in February! Time to go get my longest run in with my 33s! Have a great Sunday and enjoy the beautiful weather! Mike
