Sunday night thoughts!

Well another weekend comes to an end and a new work week begins. This weather is relentless and it doesn't look to get much cooler this week. We have a couple choices; find an air conditioned spot and wait out the heat or grab those running shoes and press on. If you are reading this and are amongst the running community I am sure the choice is that of pressing on! This week brings more group training as well as some critical training with a couple of my clients. The 10K group will be back on the track Monday night to continue their training in pacing. A couple of hours before I will be with Emily on the same track working on speed work. We don't have the luxury on either account to avoid the heat as time is critical and every training run is important. Tuesday will be a final track workout for Ashley and again we will have to overcome the heat to get this difficult workout in. Global warming is definitely making it that much more challenging for all of my runners! This week I am also starving Ashley prior to a few of her runs. As ridiculous as that sounds my intention is to have her practice running with limited glycogen so that her body will have some practice for when she's running her marathon. Running 26.2 miles pretty much depletes our glycogen around miles 15 to 20 and things start to get pretty difficult. Practicing this scenario is valuable and will help Ashley push through. The trick this week is the fact that it is so hot and how that will make it that much more difficult. I will be prepared with nourishment in the event that she struggles.
