The NFLF Team

Good morning

What a difference a week makes!

Between the snow and a long overdue cold, I will not be venturing out today. Thankfully I have a couple days to get rest and hopefully back to good health.

Yesterday I run/walked for 35 minutes, which gave me two run/walks for the week. All said, I was pleased with both and will continue a methodical training process. Between strength training and run/walking, I hope to come out of winter strong and ready. Ready for what you ask? For that I have no answer but being ready is never a bad thing.

NFLF Team

While I am the most visible member of the NFLF team, equally as valuable and behind the scenes are Jennifer Miller and Doug Mackinnon.

Doug is a certified running coach (RRCA) however, his focus is primarily on our information technology (IT). We have a state-of-the-art website and some unique training tools thanks to Doug’s brilliance, and we continue to challenge him with new ideas. Doug’s skills along with his RRCA coaching certification are a great combination and allows us to be technologically innovative.

Coach Jen Miller is like the everything at NFLF, certified running coach (RRCA), personal trainer (ACE), marketing and social media director and leads the creativity department (for lack of a better description). Jen’s other life is spent as an occupational therapist and mother, so the challenges are numerous, however her love for fitness and running combined with her education make her a valuable member of the NFLF team.

Over the years we have had multiple certified running coaches as a part of the NFLF team and as life goes, things change, and people seek different paths. We are seeking another personal trainer but finding someone who fits our unique environment is challenging. Whether it be on the running side of our coaching or working as a personal trainer, we offer a style of coaching/training which is truly personalized. There is nothing routine in our approach and we focus on providing measurable results. For this reason, our search for a good fit to our team will take time and most likely divine help.

As I mentioned, Jen Miller is the creative one and her most recent creation is a small group training opportunity. This small group class will meet weekly (Tuesday evenings at 5:30) for 8 weeks and in addition to a great workout, we will offer some short informational sessions. The informational sessions will all be tools to help with the fitness and wellness journey. They will include:

  • Goal Setting
  • Mindset Talk
  • Nutrition
  • Physical Therapist discussion on injury prevention

This small group class will be capped at 8 people to insure maximum benefit to each person. Over the coming week, we will have a sign up link up on the website, so be looking for it. We are excited about this class!

Time to step aside. I hope you have a great day and an even better week!

God Bless

Mike
